Paul assists his clients to address the effects that stress, changes, or losses can have on their mental health.  These can lead to developing anxiety; depression; PTSD; and generally not coping well.  Unhelpful responses and attempts to cope with these can lead to problems such as feeling isolated and lonely, anxious and agitated, engaging in risky behaviour, working too hard and using alcohol or drugs to cope with distress.  Paul offers treatment to successfully address all the above difficulties; and he has specialist expertise in treating alcohol and drug problems.

Paul has worked in private practice, and not-for-profit services for over 20 years in New Zealand and the UK.  He has continued his professional development over this time, and is experienced in using the latest forms of therapy. He also has experience in owning and running large and small businesses, and he has worked as a consultant, director and mentor to a large number of businesses.  This has given him a very valuable perspective on the link between mental health and life pressures.

Paul provides several different forms of therapy including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy; Acceptance and Commitment Therapy; and Schema Therapy.  Each involves a different therapeutic approach but all involve dealing with the effects that stress, changes, or losses can have on mental health, and all are suitable for both short-term and long-term therapy.  Paul is available for appointments in his office, or for virtual appointments via confidential video.
