Leena specialises in women’s health, particularly gynaecological and sexual difficulties. This includes gynaecological cancer and pelvic pain/uro-genital pain syndromes, as well as fertility difficulties. Leena works with individual women as well as couples to address grief and adjustment to change posed by these health conditions. She is also familiar with supporting people with other complex physical health problems and can work alongside the other health professionals involved in your care to ensure optimal outcomes. Leena enjoys opportunities to share this knowledge by lecturing to diverse audiences and by publishing academic papers about her work.
Leena graduated from the University of Auckland as Clinical Psychologist in 1996. Prior to specialising in Women’s health, Leena worked in Community Mental Health in West Auckland for six years and has been in private practice since 2001, providing individual and couples therapy and employee assistance services, including support with organisational change, stress and burnout. Before training to be a clinical psychologist Leena was involved with Lifeline, travelled widely and work in a variety of corporate settings.
Leena often uses a cognitive-behavioural approach (CBT) within a bio-psychosocial framework. The one hour appointment takes the form of a collaborative discussion and is guided by your stated goals.
